Craig Armstrong’s Nocturnes – Music for Two Pianos is a fourteen-movement suite written during 2020 and 2021 for two pianos, exploring diffuse textures and delicate melodic fragments. Written and recorded at home during lockdown, the pieces form an intimate, contemplative atmosphere meant to be performed as a duet. The album was released on Modern Recordings with a September 3, 2021 release date, and was issued on vinyl as Nocturnes – Music for Two Pianos. This acoustic two-piano collection emphasizes atmosphere and texture, offering a focused listening experience that highlights Armstrong’s melodic minimalist style.
