James Baby Huey Rameys only album,The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend, remains a monumental entry in the psychedelic soul canon. Completed after his untimely death in 1970 by Curtis Mayfield, this posthumous release channels raw emotion and revolutionary fervor into a hybrid of funk, rock, and soul. Anchored by Baby Huey’s powerhouse vocals, tracks like Hard Times and A Change Is Going To Come became immortalespecially in hip-hop, where they’ve been widely sampled by A Tribe Called Quest, Ghostface Killah, and Ice Cube. This reissue includes additional tracks like Aquarius and Turn On To Me, offering a more complete picture of Baby Hueys vast musical promise. A towering cult classic whose influence has only grown with time.
