LP – Limited Edition 180g Powder Pink Vinyl featuring the bands first 3 EPs +2 bonus tracks. Includes… Byron EP (Sarah Records) (30th anniversary)Fireworks EP (Sarah Records)Snapdragon EP (Sunday Records) Founded in 1994, LA\’s Aberdeen were an underground twee-pop group whos tight discography of beautifully melodic, melancholic and dreamy songs envelope the cliche topics of summer sunshine, young love, and the lack thereof. Their music primarily resided on the Bristolian cult label Sarah Records, where they would release of some of their most beloved tracks such as \’Byron\’ and \’Fireworks\’ in the mid 90s. They are a band who\’s stripped back sound had a blissful focus on the love of melody whose influence has subconsciously woven itself throughout the current generation of underground pop and indie music. We are super excited to announce the re-pressing the bands first 3 EPs in their entirety, with additional bonus tracks, on vinyl for the first time in 30 years. These are very special songs by a band whose permeance on vinyl was integral to the flexi disc adoring generation of the Sarah movement… You Kept My Heart (The Sarah & Sunday Singles) comes byway of a 12 powder pink vinyl featuring a glow in the dark star, akin to the ones on the bands guitar pedals. The tracklist boasts the entirety of the bands first 3 EPs +2 bonus tracks, one of which being Sink or Float, originally recorded for the Buffy The Vampire OST. In recent years the UK music scene has witnessed a huge resurgence in these naive, stripped back and twee sounds. The ubiquitous looping of Dean Blunt almost exclusively harks back to this era and bands such as Dry Cleaning, Fat White Family & Bar Italia all have songs that seemingly could have been lifted from Aberdeen and the likes discography. In an era where the overproduction of music and reliance on technology is now more prevalent than ever, its comforting that Aberdeens sound, 30 years on, is just as fresh and appreciated than ever.
