Nine songs shouldn’t be enough to capture a band that regularly played four-hour shows, yet this Warner Bros. survey pulls off something remarkable: a snapshot of the Dead at their most radio-approachable, drawing from the fertile 1970 to 1971 studio run that produced both “Workingman’s Dead” and “American Beauty” alongside the harder-edged “Casey Jones” and “Truckin’.” The blue vinyl pressing gives a catalog staple a reason to come off the shelf again.

The Grateful Dead’s essential compilation, pressed on limited edition light blue vinyl. Originally released as What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been in 1977, this single-LP collection covers the band’s Warner Bros. years featuring “Truckin’,” “Friend of the Devil,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Casey Jones,” “Touch of Grey,” and four more essentials, all in 2015-remastered audio. The ideal entry point for new listeners and a collectible variant for longtime fans.
