Dylan arriving in Nashville wasn’t just a stylistic left turn, it was a confirmation that country music’s emotional directness had been pulling at him since his earliest folk recordings. The warm, unhurried sound he found there with producer Bob Johnston opened a door that would influence a generation of rock artists rethinking their relationship to American roots music.

Bob Dylans ninth studio album was recorded in Nashville over 10 days in February 1969, with a group of local session musicians, and released just two months later. It contains one of his most beloved and successful songs in Lay Lady Lay as well as a duet with Johnny Cash on a new version of the early Dylan classic Girl From The North Country. Other singles from the album include I Threw It All Away andTonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You. This release brings the album back in print on vinyl in its original stereo version.
